Speaker: Professor Kelly Oliver, W. Alton Jones Professor of Philosophy, Vanderbilt University
Dr. Oliver is a prolific scholar writing on a variety of feminist themes such as the ethics of surrogate motherhood, reproductive technologies, affirmative action, adoption, family values, and war.
Her most recent publications include Carceral Humanitarianism: The Logic of Refugee Detention (2017); Hunting Girls: Sexual Violence from The Hunger Games to Campus Rape (2016); Earth and World: Philosophy After the Apollo Missions (2015); Technologies of Life and Death: From Cloning to Capital Punishment (2013); Knock me up, Knock me down: Images of Pregnancy in Hollywood Film (2012); Animal Lessons: How They Teach us to be Human (2009). Dr. Oliver is also the founder of the journal philoSOPHIA, and author of the award winning mystery series Jessica James, Cowgirl Philosopher.
