Yuen Ying Chan is the founding director of the Journalism and Media Studies Centre at the University of Hong Kong. Chan has also spent 23 years working as a journalist in New York, and is the recipient of the Nieman Fellowship at Harvard University, and won the International Press Freedom Award by the Committee to Protect Journalists.
