Speaker: Dr. Mark Tyndall, Professor of Medicine, School of Population and Public Health, UBC
Dr. Tyndall has fostered a number of community-based collaborations that have led to change to health policies, and has advocated for enhanced harm-reduction interventions and the de-criminalization of drug use. He was executive director at BC Centre for Disease Control, program director for Epidemiology at the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS, and was co-lead investigator on the evaluation of Insite, North America’s first supervised injection site. Dr. Tyndall co-founded Physicians for Refugee Health and has conducted international research and consultation in a number of countries and resided in Kenya for four years as part of the WHO collaborative research group on HIV. His career awards include the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research Senior Scholar Award and the Ontario HIV Treatment Network Applied Research Chair.
