Dr. Michael Geist, O.O. – Professor of Law and Canada Research Chair in Internet and E-Commerce Law, University of Ottawa

Dr. Geist is an award winning legal scholar specializing in internet and copyright issues. He has edited several books including Law, Privacy and Surveillance in Canada in the Post-Snowden Era (2015), The Copyright Pentalogy: How the Supreme Court of Canada Shook the Foundations of Canadian Copyright Law (2013), From “Radical Extremism” to “Balanced Copyright”: Canadian Copyright and the Digital Agenda (2010) and In the Public Interest: The Future of Canadian Copyright Law (2005). Dr. Geist is the author of a popular blog on Internet and intellectual property law issues, and contributes regular columns to the Toronto Star, the Hill Times, and the Tyee. He is also a senior fellow at the Centre for International Governance Innovation. Dr. Geist was named among the 50 most influential people on intellectual property in the world by Managing Intellectual Property in 2010, and one of the 25 most influential lawyers in Canada in 2011, 2012 and 2013 by Canadian Lawyer magazine.
